Funniest angry guest.

Twenty seconds. No words, no script: one furious guest, one heroic recovery, told only through body language. One video per group, uploaded on EHL's LMS. The Top 5 are screened in the last class, on Thursday 17 December 2026: the class votes, and the three best win a prize.

Everything you need to know

The scene

A hotel guest is upset. One of you plays the angry guest, another the hotel employee who handles it; the third films, directs or joins the scene. Show the moment the guest loses it and how the employee brings them back.

What we are looking for

How the employee deals with the guest's emotion, without a single word: eye contact, posture, staying calm, empathy, and the gesture that turns it around. This is the emotional side of service recovery.

Requirements

  1. 20 seconds maximumVideos longer than 0:20 are not screened. Trim before you upload.
  2. No wordsNo dialogue, no voice-over, no script, no captions telling the story. Body language and facial expression only.
  3. No musicNo songs or copyrighted music, to avoid copyright problems. Use the natural sound of the scene, or none.
  4. One video per group of 3Film it together; one person uploads it on EHL's LMS with your group number.
  5. ConsentEveryone who appears agreed to be filmed and to have the video screened in class.
  6. DeadlineUpload on EHL's LMS before Friday 6 November 2026, 5 pm. The upload link will be there in the Service Recovery week (week 8, from Thursday 5 November 2026).

Not allowed

  • Spoken lines, voice-over or a script
  • Captions or on-screen text that tell the story
  • Songs or any copyrighted music
  • Real hotel names, logos or real staff
  • Embarrassing anyone, on or off screen
  • Jokes based on nationality, gender or other stereotypes

Filming tips

  • Hold the phone horizontally: the Top 5 are shown on the classroom screen.
  • Exaggerate expressions and gestures: without words, the body tells the story.
  • Film in good light, close enough to see faces.
  • iPhone: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. MP4 or MOV.
  • Edit in any app (CapCut, iMovie, InShot…). AI-generated clips are allowed.

How it works

  1. FilmPlan the scene in your group and film it on a phone.
  2. UploadThe upload link will be on EHL's LMS in the Service Recovery week (week 8, from Thursday 5 November 2026). One person uploads before Friday 6 November 2026, 5 pm.
  3. Top 5Your professors watch every entry and select the five best.
  4. ScreeningLast class, the final-exam revision, Thursday 17 December 2026: the Top 5 on the big screen.
  5. Vote & prizesThe class votes in the room. The three best videos win a prize: 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Where to upload: the upload link will be on EHL's LMS, in the Service Recovery week (week 8, from Thursday 5 November 2026). Videos can't be uploaded or voted on this website: the Top 5 are screened and voted in class on Thursday 17 December 2026.
